The reservation form doesn't work. What shall I do ?
There may be two reasons:
Our web server is overloaded. First, try to re-visit our web site later. Secondly, be patient, because it may take up to 30-40 seconds in some cases to process your reservation request. After it was processed, you get an automatic notification screen with details of your reservation request. If you don't wait, until this screen appears, then your reservation request will possibly be not processed.
Your computer's settings may hinder our web site to process the reservation form. Please send us the reservation form by email or by fax (+36-36-537-701).
Can you send me brochures ?
We have no printed brochures. You can find all information (more than in hotel brochures) on our web site www.HolidayHungary.com .
How long in advance should I make a reservation ?
National Holidays: 1-2 months in advance
Major events: 2-6 months in advance
New Year's Eve: 2-3 months in advance
Formula I GP: 8+ months in advance
Budapest: April, May, September 2+ months in advance
Budapest: June, October 1+ month in advance
Lake Balaton (hotels): July, August, September 3+ months in advance
Lake Balaton (holiday rentals): July, August 3+ months in advance
I'm looking for a hotel close to the Budapest international airport. What do you recommend ?
Book a hotel in the South-East of Budapest (eastward from the Danube river and southward from the intersection of the three metro lines (Deak ter). From this area, the airport can be accessed within 20-40 minutes by taxi or the airport minibus shuttle. Such hotels are e.g. Hotel Corvin, Hotel Sissi, Hotel Pava Plaza, Hotel Anna, City Panzio Matyas, Hotel Taverna, Hotel Corvinus Kempinski.
How can I check room availability ?
Just simply make an inquiry or a reservation at www.HolidayHungary.com . If no room is available at the requested hotel, we will send you an offer listing available hotels with similar features.
Why are room rates set in DEM (German Marks) ?
Most Hungarian hotels set their rates in DEM to counterbalance the effects of the inflation, which is about 10% per year (in Y2001) in Hungary. However, hotel bills mostly have to be settled in Hungarian Forint, applying the daily exchange rate in effect on the day of your arrival. USD rates on our web site are subject to fluctuations of the exchange rate between DEM and USD.
How can you provide discount room rates ?
As every travel agency we receive discounts from the hotels. Since our operation costs are significantly lower, than traditional travel agencies', we can pass on a large part of the discounts to our guests.
Are discounts already included in the room rates published on your web site ?
Yes, they are. Further discounts may be available for groups, corporate clients and long staying guests.
I make a reservation at www.HolidayHungary.com . Do I get the same service as guests, who make a direct reservation at the hotel ?
Yes, at least the same or even better. If it's not so, we delete the hotel from our selection. We regularly check the satisfaction of our guests and the hotels know that.
I have filled in the reservation form, what happens next ?
You will get a confirmation of your reservation. If no room is available at the requested hotel, we will send you an offer listing available hotels with similar amenities.
How long does it take, until my reservation is confirmed ?
It depends on the day of your arrival. If it's very close, your reservation will be confirmed within 1 hour or so. All reservations will be confirmed within 48 hours.
Can you confirm my reservation by fax ?
We usually don't confirm reservations by fax except in special cases.
My reservation was not confirmed within 48 hours. Why ?
Most probably, you have entered an invalid email address on the reservation form. Please re-visit our web site and fill in the reservation form again. Another reason may be, that the sales personnel of the hotel don't work on weekends and on National Holidays, so they couldn't confirm your reservation, yet.
Do I have to guarantee my reservation with a deposit ?
If you secure your reservation with a credit card, no deposit (prepayment) is required except for some properties (mainly holiday rentals) and events specified on the page of the hotel or the 'Specials' section of our web site.
How do I pay a deposit ?
If you mark deposit as guarantee on the reservation form, we will let you know in the confirmation of your reservation, whether a deposit has to be paid. If it has, we will send you all details in email. Deposits have to be paid directly to the hotel unless otherwise specified.
I don't have a credit card and I can't pay a deposit. How can I make a reservation ?
Submit us your reservation request (fill in the reservation form marking 'Deposit' as guarantee) and we will check, whether it's possible.
I have to cancel my reservation. Are there any charges ?
No, cancellation is free of charge.
I have to cancel my reservation directly before my arrival or I don't show at the hotel. Do I have to pay a penalty ?
A penalty may apply. You can possibly avoid it by letting us or the hotel immediately know, that you will not show in the hotel. The later you tell, the more possibly the hotel will lay claim to a penalty. Penalties will be settled from your credit card or the deposit, you have paid.
I have left my confirmation of reservation at home. How can I check in at the hotel ?
Your reservation details are already registered at the hotel by the time, you receive the confirmation of your reservation from us. It's enough to tell your name at the check-in counter and you will get the room on the conditions in your confirmation.
I have a problem in Hungary, at the hotel, etc. Can you help me ?

What is the advantage of paying at the hotel ?
Our guests pay at the hotel. If you have to leave earlier than planned, you can check out at nearly all hotels without paying for the remaining nights. However, this possibility is restricted at some properties (especially holiday rentals, hotels at Lake Balaton) and some events (e.g. Formula One GP). In any case, tell the hotel as soon as possible, if you will leave earlier, otherwise it may be difficult for the hotel to rent your room and may thus charge you for the remaining nights, too.
I have secured my reservation with a credit card. Do I have to pay with this credit card ?
No, not at all. You can decide on the spot, which method of payment (cash, credit card, etc. ) you choose.
