The international passenger air traffic is managed in Budapest through the Ferihegy 2 International Airport. The airport has two terminals, the 2A and the 2B, which are located only a couple of yards from each other. The air traffic is coordinated and the airport is operated by the LRI. The Ferihegy 2 International Airport is located in the South of Pest (Pest is the name of East-Budapest, a collective for all areas on the Eastern riverside of the Danube). The distance between the airport and the city center is about 20 km (12.5 miles). To those who wish to stay close to the airport, hotels to the South of the city center are recommended. From these places, the airport can be reached within half an hour.

The airport offers a city-wide "shared ride" shuttle van service between any apartment, hotel, office or residence and the Ferihegy 2 International Airport. The service combines the comfort of taxis with reasonable flat fare rates. Tickets can be purchased in the arrival hall and at the Airport Passenger Service counters near the Airport exits. A single ticket costs 1800 Ft (about USD 7,00 or EUR 7,00), a return ticket is 3300 Ft (about USD 13,50 or EUR 13,50). The service is operating round the clock.

Express Coaches run every 30 minutes between the Airport and the Deak Square (city center) from 5.30am to 9.00pm every day. Tickets can be purchased at the driver for 800 Ft / person (about USD 3,50 or EUR 3,50).
The bus no. 93 of the Budapest Transportation Company (BKV) runs every 15 minutes round the clock between the Airport and the Kőbánya-Kispest Metro Station (the metro doesn't operate between 11.00pm and 4.30am !). Travel time is about 20 minutes. The regular ticket of the BKV is required to travelling, which costs 105 Ft (about USD 0,35 or EUR 0,40) and must be purchased prior to boarding.
Travelling by taxi to the city center costs from 5500 Ft (about USD 22 or EUR 22).
